Wedding Prayer

Our Father, we thank you that we could celebrate this very special day together. We know that marriage is of divine origin and is commended as honorable among all men. It is a most important step in the lives of Mr. and Mrs. (grooms full name), and I know they have given it careful and prayerful consideration. Their hearts’ desire is for a Christian marriage with the Lord Jesus Christ at the center of their lives. We pray God’s blessing on both of them.
We ask, Gracious and Loving Father, that (groom) would love his wife as Christ loved the church and be responsible for her spiritual welfare. We also ask that (bride) would love, honor and obey her husband even as Christ has commanded, being (groom) special help-meet.
For as much as Mr. and Mrs. (groom’s full name) have in the presence of the living God and these witnesses consented to join in holy matrimony, and having given their promises to each other, we, as fellow believers, witness this new covenant made before God. Father, we pray this day, that no man will separate what You have joined together.
