The Word of God/preaching is too hard to understand

I was speaking in a small rural church a few weeks ago, and when I had finished presenting the Word of God from Matthew 21:1-11, the youth pastor of the church ran up to me and told me that one of the mothers of a new youth attendee came to church for the first time that day. He implied that the message was too much for someone in that “seeker” category. She would never understand and probably never come back. The implication was that what he had worked hard to do was all my fault at the possible undoing.
